Springfield Tech Community College

Springfield Technical Community College, Mass. enters the tournament for the first time since 2003 under head coach William Shephard. Currently 27-5, the Rams defeated Mass Bay Community College 70-69 in the Region XXI Championship. Springfield takes pride in its defense this year, only giving up an average of 61 points per game.

Coach Shephard said he considers all his players to be key players this year, but the team is led by leading scorers Edgar Martinez, who averages 14 points per game, and Rick Johnson, who averages 13 points per game. "We don’t try to outscore teams, we try to stop them," said Coach Shephard. He said they create their offense from their defense, and the key to the Rams playing this year is their perseverance.
