Montgomery College-Germantown, Md. makes its way to the 2008 tournament with a record of 24-7.
The Gryphons had what head coach Xavier Joyner calls a tough trip to the national championships.
They had to win the Region XX Championship, defeating Westmoreland County Community College 77-63,
and had to win the District VII Championships by defeating Catawaba Valley Community College 72-64.
Leading the team are sophomores Tyrone Roach, who averaged 14 points per game, Tariq Uqdah, who averages
11 points per game, and Nick Sefcik, who averages 10 points per game. The Gryphons are averaging 85 points a
game this season, and Coach Joyner said his team is "speedy and quick." Their motto this year: "dedication plus
discipline equals success." Coach Joyner said his players have had great academic success as well as success on
the court.
