Dominating the court, the Hostos Community College Caimans held onto their lead to defeat the Montgomery College-Germantown Gryphons, 76-73, in the second game of the NJCAA Men's Division III Basketball Championship. Holding onto the ball and draining their shots, Hostos was able to hold onto their lead throughout the entire second half to take the game.

The Gryphons came out with intensity as Montgomery's Tariq Ugdah dunked the ball off a steal, followed by an alley-oop from Nick Sefcik to Dave Karlson. Hostos began to pick up the pace, and started dominating the floor, firing off and draining shots. Shooting and draining a three-point shot at the buzzer was the Caimans's Dayshawn Long to end the first half 39-32 in Hostos's favor.

Dominating the floor with ball movement and offense, Hostos was able to rebound and steal the ball from the Gryphons. Both teams looked around the floor to find shots, but Hostos continued to hold on. Montgomery started to pick up their intensity, attempting to close the Caimans's lead. Coming back from a 16-point deficient, the Gryphons's Mitchell Dudley made a two-point shot as well as a free throw to bring the Caimans's lead to only three points with two minutes remaining. The Gryphons were unable to keep Hostos from making their shots, and the Caimans held on to win the game 76-73. High scorer for the game was Hostos Community College's Nick Lopez with 24 points, followed by Montgomery College-Germantown's Tariq Ugdah with 16 points.
