North Lake College, Texas. - (73)

The Joliet Junior College Wolves let the ball slip out of their fingers in the final seconds of the 2008 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship game to let the North Lake College Blazers hold on to become the 2008 Champions, winning 73-70 in regulation play. Joliet's Adam Short missed a three-point shot with just under two minutes left to play that would have tied the game 65-65. North Lakes Bryant Ross was able to return with a two-point shot to give the Blazers the extra edge they needed to hold on to become the 2008 Champions.

Joliet began the game coming out scoring in the first three seconds of the game. North Lake was able to get inside on the floor to gain offensive and defensive rebounds, which enabled them to set up plays and drain shots. Taking an early lead, the Blazers lead 15-9 with 12:05 left in the first half. Joliet began to pull things together, and started going shot for shot down the floor with the Blazers, attempting to close the gap that had been achieved by the Blazers early in the game. With two minutes left to play, North Lake's Jamie Egenti was able to block Joliet's Lamar Williams shot, sending the ball down the court for the Blazers where they were able to capitalize on the gain. This left intensity high as the game went into halftime with a score of 39-32 in favor of the Blazers.

Moving in for rebounds and capitalizing on the ability to be able to put up shots multiple times, North Lake came into the second half moving the ball around, making shots and continuing their first-half lead. Using the shot clock to their advantage, the Blazers moved the ball around the floor before making shots in order to sustain their lead. Continuously holding a nine-point lead for most of the second half, the Blazers were going shot for shot with the Wolves up and down the floor. Joliet started to take use of rudimentary mistakes being made by North Lake, and closed the Blazers gap to three points with three minutes left to go in the game. Joliet's Adam Short missed a three-point shot to tie the game 65-65, and North Lakes Bryant Ross and Jamon Wilson were able to gain back to back shots, to give the Blazers a seven point lead.

The Wolves William Bills made a crucial three-point shot with 37.6 seconds remaining in the game to bring the score to 69-67 still in favor of North Lake. Although Joliet was getting closer to closing the gap after three free throws were made by Ryan Owens with just seconds left, the Wolves were unable to hold on to the ball, allowing North Lake to hold on to their lead and win the game 73-70.
