Missing a three-point shot at the buzzer, the SUNY Cobleskill Tigers were unable to clutch the third place position as they lost to the Hostos Community College Caimans 58-56 in the final round of the Division III Men's Basketball Championship. The Caimans made a comeback after being down by a ten-point lead early in the first half, and leaving the score at 34-31 at halftime.

Moving the ball around the court and finding open shots, the Cobleskill Tigers were able to take a lead in the first half. With the Hostos Caimans closing in, the Tigers were continuing to hold on to the lead by draining big shots from all over the floor. With minutes left, the Caimans’ Silvio Marfe began his eight-point scoring streak, and soon the game went into halftime with the Tigers leading 34-31.

Starting off the second half, the Caimans were able to tie up the game 34-34, which began the battle for the lead. Hostos started to pull their lead by swiftly moving up and down the court, finding open men, and draining shots. With Hostos leading 47-39 with just under eight minutes left to play, Cobleskill started to make their way back into the game by stealing the ball and hitting crucial shots. The Tigers' Nathan Bellamy made a two-point shot with 15 seconds left to play to put Cobleskill behind by two points, but they were unable to come any closer, and Hostos was able to hold on and win, 58-56. Leading scorer for the game was Hostos Community College's Nicholas Lopez with 22 points, followed by Silvio Marfe with 18 points. Lead scorer for SUNY Cobleskill was Michael Knight with 16 points for the Tigers.
