The Bergen Community College Bulldogs earned their spot in the tournament this year by defeating Sussex Community College 75-68 in a rival match to take the Region XIX championship. Head coach Sean Kelly stated, “It is a great accomplishment for our school to get into the tournament.” Leading the Bulldogs this year are freshman Elgin Brown, a 6’5” forward, who is averaging a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds a game, and freshman Jayvon Beady, a 6’8” center who is also averaging a double-double for the Bulldogs with 14 points and 11 rebounds per game. Coach Kelly commented on sophomore player Aaron Dorell who he said “runs the show” for the Bulldogs as point guard and sophomore Brandon Alexander who averages 10 points per game. The Bulldogs are coming in as a strong offensive team, averaging about 77 points a game, but “pride themselves in defense,” Coach Kelly states. |
